Classic Gaming Expo Distinguished Guest:
KAREN NUGENT
Karen Nugent was one of the first Blue Sky
Rangers; Mattel Electronics had less than 25 people at that time. While at
Mattel, Ms. Nugent was the graphics designer for BurgerTime, Super Pro
Football, Mission X, Scooby Doo's Maze Chase, and the
unreleased Flintstone's Keyboard Fun, and designed several
unreleased games one the top secret Cities in Flight. She also
tested new software, and claims she is still great at breaking it.
When she started at Mattel the animation
was done on graph paper and then sent to JPL to be put on the computer. Any
changes had to be sent back to JPL. There were only two individuals doing
graphics at Mattel at that time. After Mattel, Karen produced the graphics for
the Sierra On-Line computer game, The Black Cauldron. She then became a
Digital opaquer trainer and software tester with Disney for 14 years,
working on all the features from The Rescuers Down
Under through Home on the Range.
Today she is into Character Rigging with MAYA,
and is an Executive Board Member, IATSE The Animation Guild, Local 839. In her
spare time she teaches at the Red Cross. |
