MICHAEL MEYERS
Michael Meyers launched his career in video games in 1980 as a 17
year-old gaming journalist contributing to a weekly trade paper called
the Philadelphia Home Viewer. That first writing gig led to
bigger jobs with Marvel Comics and the original Electronic
Games Magazine, as well as a part time job extolling the virtues of
the Mattel Intellivision to an uneducated consumer public.
He founded MMPR in July 2002, a full service public relations and
marketing agency in Northern California, working almost exclusively in
interactive entertainment. Michael has over 30 years of experience
promoting and marketing games and gaming related businesses including
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Maniac Mansion, Dragon’s Lair, Alien Hominid,
Penny Arcade, NBA Jam, NFL Quarterback Club, Metal Slug, King of
Fighters and High Heat Baseball. He is the former senior
editor of GamePro Magazine and executive producer of the GamePro
television show, contributor to TV Guide, Playboy, Ultra Game Players,
ESPN 2’s Dirt, and Blip (Marvel Comics) He has also run
the PR departments of major gaming publishers – Acclaim Entertainment
(96-99) and the 3DO Company (99-02) and worked in the US Product
Development Department for Data East USA (94-96). |
