Classic Gaming Expo Distinguished Guest:
STEVE WRIGHT
Steve
joined Atari in 1978 and eventually wound up as the manager of the home
video game division. While learning “stella” (the in-house name for the
VCS 2600) to program his first title “Pele’s Soccer” he wrote the stella
programming manual as a way to teach himself about the proprietary chip
and share that with other new programmers at Atari.
Steve left Atari after five years in 1983 to become
VP of game development for Sega/Paramount producing laser disk arcade
games which moved him to Hollywood. He is now a 20 year visual effects
veteran with 70 broadcast television commercials and over 60 feature
film credits.
He began doing computer animation at Robert Abel
and Associates in Hollywood, an award winning visual effects studio.
With his partner Steven Sidley, he opened his own visual effects studio
in Hollywood for seven years producing 3D animation and high end digital
compositing for visual effects, first for commercials then for feature
films. Steve then joined Kodak’s Cinesite as a senior compositor and
became the 2D technical director where he also supported their digital
intermediate operation from its inception.
For the last year and a half Steve has been a
freelance visual effects guru teaching, training, writing, and speaking
about digital compositing and digital intermediate both domestically and
internationally. Following the release of the second edition of his
popular book, “Digital Compositing for Film and Video”, he is now
writing an introductory book on digital compositing.
