Countdown to CGE 2012 ~ August 11-12, 2012 ~ 11 AUG 2012

Classic Gaming Expo enters its 13th year as the world's first and largest event paying tribute to the people, systems and games of yesteryear. The 2012 event will feature vendors, guest speakers, music and events celebrating the rich history of videogaming, from Pong to PlayStation! This year guarantees to be the biggest and best ever, with surprises announced here regularly as the show draws near. As always, CGE is open to the public and gamers of all ages are welcome!

David Crane To Announce New Game Project At Classic Gaming Expo

Legendary game designer David Crane will kick off CGE 2012 by announcing his newest gaming venture. Attendees and members of the press are invited to attend a 10:00 a.m. keynote session at the Plaza Showroom on Saturday, August 11th, 2012. It is here that the author of Pitfall, Dragster, Ghostbusters, A Boy & His Blob and numerous other hits will reveal his latest project for the first time to the world. While we can't reveal too much before the event (you'll have to be there to find out), we can tell you that you can expect to see early concept work. In addition, there will be a surprise collectible available to a limited few lucky attendees. Now that we've got you hooked, check out this info ad and start counting down the days.

Wreck-It Ralph Preview at Classic Gaming Expo

Just when you thought the show couldn't get any better, along comes this!

CGE has partnered with Disney and Allied Marketing to promote the new film, Wreck-It Ralph, at this year's Classic Gaming Expo. Disney's marketing people will have a booth on the main show floor showing trailers for the movie and giving away Wreck-It Ralph promos. If that wasn't enough, they're even bringing along the actual Fix-It Felix Jr. arcade game from the movie. There's only 2 of these machines in the world and attendees will have a chance to play it - and they won't even need a quarter!

Registration for Classic Gaming Expo 2K12 is still open so don't miss out on this awesome opportunity!

Nintendo World Championship 1990 Redux

Remember Nintendo's famous tour in 1990 where the greatest gamers from around the country competed in a special Super Mario Bros/Rad Racer/Tetris tournament and won special prizes (most notably the tournament cartridge itself)? Did you miss it back then or are perhaps looking for redemption? We are going to crown a new unofficial tournament champion at this year's event!

Attendees can compete to get the highest combined score on reproduction cartridges of Nintendo’s two most famous video game competitions: Nintendo World Championships and Nintendo Campus Challenge. Each competitor will play both games and the highest combined score will win prizes including trophies and t-shirts, not to mention eternal gaming glory. This event is free to all CGE 2K12 attendees. The Retro Game Championship is organized by PriceCharting.com, a source for pricing data for video game and movie collectors, and JJGames.com, a retailer of retro games and systems for all major consoles.

New for 2K12: Classic Gaming Expo™ Auction Preview

If you've been to CGE before, do you know that feeling as you're perusing the auction items an hour before it begins that you won't have time to research, check against your collection, or even get enough cash to bid? We know the feeling all too well.

The Classic Gaming Expo auction is always a highlight of the weekend's events and this year we're kicking it up a notch by offering attendees the opportunity to put a photo preview here on the site as well as for potential buyers to get a peek at some of the items with plenty of time to prepare.

For all of the details and a preview of what we expect to see so far, visit our auction page.

EXPOSED and More: The Plaza's Hot New Look

We had the opportunity to check out all of the new features embedded within The Plaza Hotel & Casino's completely overhauled interior prior to booking the 2012 event. We came home changed men.

At The Swinger's Club, you'll gain some first-hand experience with the downtown Las Vegas night scene. You'll get dueling pianos, a nine-hole mini golf course, and an eyeful of Las Vegas memorabilia. Mingle or sing along, it's the perfect spot to geek out with CGE friends old and new.

In addition to Oscar's great food, the restaurant offers you the option to pair your meal with one of Oscar's "Broads" to join you for dinner. These fine young ladies will discuss everything from politics to sports, and really know their Las Vegas history. It's a truly unique dining experience.

The Exposed Hair Salon features female stylists wearing bikinis and classy lingerie. This eye candy salon has two separate sections and entrances for men and women, with a total of 14 styling stations for male customers, as well as eight stations for female clients. We tested the salon out just for YOU, our attendees. We tested it several times just to be sure it would be right for YOU. We're pretty sure it is. Maybe one more test, after some of the hair grows back.

For all of the details and a preview of everything else you can expect from the newly renovated venue, visit the Plaza Hotel & Casino website.
